LIVE JUDGING: Alexia Awards – Syracuse University – March 24

We would like to invite you to join us for the judging of The Alexia 2017 grants which will take place at Syracuse University March 24 and 25 at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication. The judges will be National Geographic Society Digital General Manager Keith Jenkins, VII Photographer and Filmmaker Ed Kashi, and Independent Photography Director, Curator and Consultant Amy Pereira. Judging will be moderated by Mike Davis, the Alexia Tsairis Chair of Documentary Photography at Syracuse.

Judging will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 24 with the student applications. At 2.30 p.m., each of the judges will give a talk about their own work. Judging will reconvene on Saturday, Mar. 25 at 9 a.m. with the professional entries. All events will take place in the I-3 Center of Newhouse 3

The process is open to the public. The Alexia grant selection weekend is a time of great insight and incredible photography. It is an opportunity to see some of the most powerful photography being produced by the best in the industry. The judges impart a tremendous amount of wisdom during their talks and during the judging process. You will be inspired.

The winners of The Alexia 2017 grants will be announced in a special reception at the University of Miami on April 8 during our Latin America: Stories That Drive Change seminar. We will be broadcasting the announcement in a Facebook live video at 7.30 p.m. EST. You are also invited to join us in Miami, either virtually or in person.
