JOB: Newspaper Photographer – Utah

The Standard-Examiner, a daily newspaper at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains in Ogden, Utah, is looking for a talented photojournalist to dig deep into the community we serve and seek out visual stories that matter.

We want someone who is savvy on social media, can shoot a variety of subjects from sports to breaking news, and is a self-starter capable of finding daily subjects and long-term projects.

The SE newsroom is constantly seeking new ways to reach online audiences. We are building a collaborative team that is passionate about what we do and dedicated to engaging and informing the public through strong journalism. This opening is for a creative photojournalist who shares our sense of mission.

Requirements: Three years experience at a news organization is preferred, but recent graduates with internship experience and an excellent portfolio will be considered.  Experience in shooting and editing video is required. Must be able to write accurate and informative captions and be willing to work nights and weekends. We provide Canon photo equipment and a Mac desktop with Adobe Creative Cloud.

The SE is the third largest paper in Utah with a Sunday print circulation of 35,000. Located 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, Ogden, a city of about 80,000 is a hub of outdoor recreation, arts and culture.
