JOB: Photo Editor – Instagram

Instagram’s Community team is responsible for discovering and elevating distinctive voices from our 300 million+ active users. We produce features for Instagram’s editorial channels, and inspire and support events such as InstaMeets all over the world. We are looking for a senior editor to join the community team, focusing on a new product suite. The senior editor will be responsible for curating visual content within the Instagram experience. He or she should have a desire to discover creative accounts on Instagram, a talent for producing image-centric stories and and an appetite for news. The position will be based in Menlo Park.

  • Establish and implement an editorial calendar
  • Build a team of specialized editors, who can cover nights and weekends
  • Develop and optimize a sustainable editorial review process
  • Write and edit irresistible display copy
  • Monitor creative trends on Instagram with an eye towards story generation
  • Program against breaking news and worldwide events seamlessly
  • 10+ years in journalism, with strong experience in digital
  • Expert promotional copywriting skills
  • Experience building and managing a team
  • Solid experience working with editorial photography departments
  • Demonstrated experience editing unique content types across social platforms for a global audience.
  • An affinity for working in a fast-paced digital environment
  • Love of Instagram and discovering compelling accounts on the platform
  • Writing and editing portfolio required
