Duties: The CNN Social Discovery team is seeking a talented, motivated and engaged full-time intern for the Fall 2015 semester. The intern’s primary duties will involve supporting the Social Discovery Team in verifying user-generated content from social media and during breaking news. The job also involves using a variety of social discovery tools to surface content, as well as curating, managing and amplifying the social content of CNN crews in the field. Candidates for this internship will have a working knowledge of digital storytelling and using social media for newsgathering. The internship also has a focus on online writing.

Position Description: Students will have an opportunity to observe and train in a number of functions including producing, writing and editing. Interns will get hands-on experience creating targeted assignments for the CNN iReport community, maintaining the website, and vetting user-generated submissions. They will assist in the research and day-to-day tasks of online news production. In addition, students may have the opportunity to train with photojournalists, video editors and producers.

Please Note: Students @ Work Internships Program dates are September 21, 2015 – December 4, 2015. Interns are paid at minimum-wage based on location, and relocation is not provided. Students must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, students may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship (i.e. STUDENTS MUST BE ENROLLED IN SCHOOL DURING THE TIME OF THIS INTERNSHIP).
