Since 2005, Chicken & Egg Pictures has awarded almost $4 million in grants and more than 5,200 hours of mentorship to over 180 films. We are interested in films that tackle human rights, social justice, and environmental issues in a nuanced, original, and compelling way. We look for new voices, powerful stories, and filmmakers who are committed to working in tandem with social movements.
Our basic guidelines are as follows:
- Grants are available to documentary or hybrid documentary films.
- We fund filmmakers based in the U.S. and internationally.
- Films must be directed or co-directed by a woman*.
- Projects do not need to focus on women’s issues or female characters. Please read through our Priorities and Criteria for more details on what we are looking for.
*Chicken & Egg Pictures supports self-identifying women (cis or trans), gender nonconforming individuals, and female/male co-directing partnerships.
