The University of Central Florida’s School of Visual Arts and Design seeks a dynamic Instructor or Lecturer of Photography for the Bachelor of Science at the UCF Daytona Beach regional campus. The successful applicant will teach in the area of photography, specifically studio and location lighting with technical, aesthetic, and conceptual applications. Strong candidates will specialize in commercial product lighting and have experience with client-based work. The ideal candidate has experience in academic, commercial, and fine art areas.
The position is for an instructor or lecturer to teach a four-course load, per semester. This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position. UCF supports and rewards teaching excellence. Faculty are expected to participate in department and university service including committee work.
The UCF Bachelor of Science in Photography degree program http://svad.cah.ucf.edu/bsphotography/ partners with Daytona State College http://www.daytonastate.edu/ and the Southeast Museum of Photography http://www.smponline.org/index.html offering a multifaceted approach to a range of careers in photography. The anticipated start date is August 2014 pending the availability of funding.
Minimum: Candidates must have a master’s degree in photography from an accredited institution; a demonstrated expertise in studio and location lighting and the digital processes of photography; experience with commercial client-based work; be competent with technology; and demonstrate good organizational and communication skills.
Preferred: Terminal degree in photography from an accredited institution; excellent communication skills; familiarity with professional practices in commercial and illustrative photography; proficiency in digital media including digital capture, post-production, and output. Successful applicants will be dynamic, collegial, enjoy working across disciplines, be conversant in contemporary photographic theory, and show evidence of ongoing creative work, professional achievement, and teaching experience.
