Reuters needs gifted picture editors who can effortlessly sift through the thousands of photos contributed daily by our photographers and accurately pick out the most compelling photos to highlight to our clients for use in their publications around the globe. The setting for this job is a dynamic newsroom including video, text, and graphics journalists collaborating to produce a compelling professional news product unavailable anywhere else. Are you just the person we’re looking for? The Global Pictures Desk is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy and speed of delivery of Reuters pictures to our clients worldwide. The successful candidate will contribute to the daily picture file by using the skills we will teach and personal initiative in a strong team setting.


Key Responsibilities:
– Gather images from around the globe, research and edit photos and photo captions quickly and accurately, in addition to responding to clients’ requests.
– Maintain close operational links between pictures, text, video and on-line operations to guarantee integrated news coverage and production.
– Flawless command of written and spoken English is essential
– Deep interest in global current events : Politics, conflict, business, sport, & entertainment
– Minimum experience : Photography and/or journalism experience preferred, not necessary
– Hours : Must be willing to work shifts in this 24/7 environment
– Educational requirements: Mass communication / Journalism background would be an advantage.


– Sound news and pictures judgment and an ability to spot a breaking story.
– Be up-to-date on current affairs and possessing a love for both news and news photography.
– Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
– Highly competitive individual and team player with strong interpersonal skills while working under pressure.
– Competent working knowledge of Mac OS, Adobe Photoshop, and Fotostation is advantageous.
– Must be willing to work on a rotating shift system, including overnight, weekend and occasional public holiday work.
