The Naples Daily News is looking for college students who want to work in one of the best – and craziest – news markets in Florida. We are looking for three students: Photography/video intern, Metro Desk intern and Features reporting intern.
Few news markets are as fun and diverse. One day, you can be covering a Fortune 500 CEO, the next day, you’re reporting on wage abuse in the tomato fields and the next – a Ferrari driver gets busted doing 100 mph, with two blondes crammed in the front seat with him.
In recent weeks, we’ve reported on a congressman popped for buying cocaine and a burglar who got stuck in chimney (Yes, chimneys exist in Florida and the burglar needed beer money.)
Other perks: our editors are strong, the newsroom is five minutes from the beach; and it never snows. You’ll leave with great clips, videos, story packages and a real newsroom experience.
You must be a current college student driven to succeed, with a car and a driver’s license in good standing. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Send cover letter, resume and a visual portfolio to Michel Fortier: email@example.com Our internship pays a competitive wage and is not limited to the summer.
You’ll join a nationally-recognized photojournalism powerhouse of five outstanding photographers who produce everything from daily to long-term projects. Our assignments range from breaking news, crime, storm coverage, festivals, to the environment, sports and wildlife.
The photo department won the “Best use of photography” in the 2013 NPPA Best of Photojournalism category and we produced a Pulitzer finalist in 2011.We continue to push ourselves on a daily basis and the internship position will be an exceptional learning experience.
The photo staff uses Canon equipment and we can provide a basic photo kit and a MacBook Pro with all the software you’ll need. We also have an extensive list of pool gear, including all the super telephotos you could want. If you have your own gear and would like to use it, we’ll service it if the need arises through CPS. We are not affiliated with Nikon Professional Services.
Because this is a very competitive internship, applicants should generally have at least one other internship under their belt. We’ll consider anyone with talent and promise. You’ll be treated like a staff photojournalist and will be responsible daily coverage duties.
