INTERNSHIP: Orange Co. Register

The Orange County Register will offer three dozen college internships at The Orange County Register in 2014. Generally, applicants should be juniors or seniors at four-year universities, graduate students, or recent graduates whose career aspirations are committed to journalism.

We’re looking for reporters, photographers, page designers, copy editors, graphics artists, and journalists with Web, multimedia, social media, and broadcast skills. Verbal fluency in a second language – especially Spanish or Vietnamese – is a valued skill given Orange County’s diversity. From each pool of candidates, we will select the interns whose skills and experiences best match our needs.

Spring: 10 internships. 150 hours over 10 weeks
Summer: 15 internships. 400 hours over 10 weeks
Fall: 10 internships. 150 hours over 10 weeks

Submit cover letter, describing what you would bring to the internship and what you hope to learn from the experience. Provide unofficial college transcripts, a resume and two recommendation letters. Reporters should provide up to 10 published articles (working links are OK), including multimedia. Photographers should submit as many as 25 images and may add video and multimedia on CDs or through links. Designers and graphic artists should submit portfolios of up to 20 images on CDs or through links. Copy-editing candidates must take an editing test.
