This event will foster new — and realistic — ideas for your business. Jenna Close has found the answers for her business. She focused on one niche market and nurtures this approach into a sustainable future. The successful results are inspiring to those just starting out and veterans looking for a place in our changed industry.
Additionally, these events are a fundraiser for the Young Photographers Alliance (YPA), a mentoring organization for the next generation of photographers. Come out and hear a new business approach and know that your admission fee is helping the next generation of image makers. The evening is truly about “Photographers Helping Photographers.”

Jenna Close grew up wanting to be an actor, a world traveler or a truck driver. At one point she found herself volunteering in Africa during a break from her theatre career, and that’s where she first picked up a camera. From then on photography became a way of documenting her acting destinations (both exotic and mundane). Eventually, one bug replaced another and Jenna retired from theatre in order to attend the Art Institute of Seattle. Upon graduation she fled the clouds and landed in San Diego to soak up the sun and pursue a career. The result was P2 Photography and a newfound love of surfing. P2 specializes in imagery for the alternative energy industry, most specifically solar with a few electric vehicle companies thrown in for good measure. They were recently chosen as one of the Best of ASMP 2011. Jenna has yet to learn how to drive a Big Rig, but in the meantime she helps drive ASMP as a Director on the national board.
P2 Photography is a 4-year-old company co-owned by Jenna Close and Jon Held. From the beginning, P2’s business model has been centered around the growing alternative energy industry. They also recently began shooting aerial with a remotely controlled helicopter, while corporate portraits and “the world at work” round out their portfolio. Their clients include SolarWorld, Coldwell Banker, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Cincinnati Zoo. You can find them at http://www.p2photography.net.
