Job Description: Video Journalist Intern
The Washington Post video team is searching for a video intern to work 16 hours/week for fall 2011. The candidate will help shoot, report and edit breaking news, daily and feature video stories as well as assisting with on-location filming for various weekly video shows. Candidate should have flexible hours, including nights and weekends. A person must have experience shooting DV/HDV video and editing with Final Cut Pro. Interns are preferred to have coursework or field experience in visual journalism or a related journalism/media degree. Candidates must provide a resume and portfolio, including video samples.
The internship is unpaid and for academic credit. Prospective interns must be students currently enrolled in a degree program, and, if selected, must submit one of the following on or before the first day of the internship: 1) documentation showing that academic credit is being received (i.e. a copy of the course registration), or 2) a letter from a professor, department head, or academic advisor stating that the internship significantly contributes to the student’s current degree program, or 3) a letter from the school stating that the internship is part of a work-study or independent study program.

Job Description: Video Editor Intern
The Washington Post is seeking a motivated video/multimedia editor intern to help edit and produce daily video, audio and live programs. The position is unpaid but can be used for academic credit (16 hours a week).
Produce and edit wire videos
Edit reporter video
Occasionally shoot and/or produce video on-assignment
Assist in producing live and taped shows from The Washington Post video studio
Work closely with the Universal News Desk to address breaking news needs
Requirements and Qualifications:
Working toward B.A. in journalism, communications, or similar discipline
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong news judgment
Ability to conceptualize projects in new and innovative ways
Experience with adobe premiere, Final Cut Pro, or similar video editing software
Deftness to handle multiple tasks and deadlines at once
Good work ethic and self-starting attitude
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability and desire to learn new software and technologies quickly and adapt to change
