Three award winning photographers will present their portfolios to kick off the WHNPA Student POY Judging Day.

The three speakers starting off the day’s activities are International Humanitarian Photojournalist Allison Shelley, The Washington Post’s Melina Mara and Roll Call’s Tom Williams.

A celebration party and lunch will be hosted by sponsor Momenta Workshops after the presentations and before the contest judging begins. A day of photography inspiration followed by free food & beer: how could a Saturday get any better?!?!

Portfolio Reviews @ the Corcoran Gallery of Art — Saturday, November 12th, 10 am – 5 pm

Always a sell out the FotoWeekDC portfolio review sessions provide emerging photographers with the opportunity to have their work reviewed by a distinguished lineup of professionals from around the country. Curators, educators, photo editors, and other experts from the fields of commercial, fine art, photojournalism, multimedia, and documentary join with prominent photographers to offer frank appraisals, valuable business insight, and key advice for projects and books in progress. All reviews will be held on Saturday, November 12 between 10am – 5pm for 20-minute reviews.

In honor of the great spending stimulus plans, Momenta has lowered the price of the wedding business skills workshop for this June 4-7, 2009.

Photographer, Semester at SeaVoyage: Spring 2010
General Responsibilities: The staff photographer has four main duties:
1. Digitally document the voyage.
2. Coordinate and advise the student voyage book committee.
3. Produce the 120-page full-color voyage book.
4. Create multimedia slideshows with audio for the SAS website. The photographer works collaboratively with the the shipboard communications coordinator and videographer to document the mission of Semester at Sea for various promotional collateral. The photographer provides own camera(s) and image storage, at minimum equivalent of a D60 Canon/Nikon D100 or better; many photographers have found a personal laptop valuable although a G5 desktop is provided.
